Carlingford Marina and a welcome from Andrew Higginson
When we anchored off Andrew Higginson's house in remote Barnanrusheen, Co Galway he asked me who was meeting me when I crossed "the finish line". I told him noboby was and he immediately volunteered to be there, together with his Royal Marine colleague, Padre Albert from Drogheda.
I think like all expeditions, the actual finish can be a bit of an anti-climax so it was very kind of them to make an effort and be there with a bottle of champagne - thank you Andrew.
Thank you also to my final official crew - Jonathan and Louisa - especially for arranging Good Dog's fenders so immaculately - it was noted!
Carlingford Marina was also a great place to finish and gather my thoughts. I huge thank you to Jonny Moneley and all the staff who made us very welcome, and even forwarded a parcel of Galway potatoes, sent to me as a gift, to my home in Dorset!
So that's it. What next. Oh yes - write the book!
